Thank You

thank you dave

After more than 20 years of unwavering dedication to Camelot RUFC, it’s time to say a huge thank you to Dave Simmonds as he steps down from his role with the senior team.

Dave has been one of those people who simply gets on with the job, often without any fanfare, but whose contribution has been invaluable to the club.

As a member of the Olympic squad for bobsleigh, Dave experienced first-hand the dedication, professionalism and standards needed to perform at the very highest level. Those values became part of everything he did at Camelot. He always gave his best, expected the same from those around him, and helped create a culture built on pride, teamwork and doing things the right way.

From coaching his son Ollie’s team throughout the Mini and Youth section, to serving as our 1st XV Team Manager for many seasons, Dave has always put Camelot first. Whether it was organising the kit, setting up pitches before everyone else arrived, looking after equipment, helping at training sessions, or putting his hand up for yet another working party, Dave was always there.

His commitment, reliability and willingness to help wherever needed have made a lasting impact on so many players, coaches and volunteers over the years. Clubs like Camelot are built on people like Dave—those who quietly give up countless hours behind the scenes simply because they care.

Dave, thank you for every early morning, every late night, every load of washing, every pitch you’ve prepared, and every hour you’ve given to our club. Your hard work has never gone unnoticed, and Camelot is a better place because of everything you’ve done.

From everyone at Camelot, we wish you all the very best for the future and hope you’ll always remain part of the Camelot family. You’ll always be a Camelot legend.
